TEF, tef canada & TEFAQ

The TEF (Test d’Evaluation de Français) is an international benchmark test that assesses your level of knowledge and skills in French. It was created by the French Language Centre of the CCI Paris Ile-de-France. The TEF is conducted electronically (computer-based) or in print. No prior degree is required to sit the exam. The candidate must be 16 years and up.

The TEF Canada is a version of the TEF which is an essential proof of French language proficiency level for Canadian immigration. Learn more about this exam.

The TEFAQ (French Evaluation Test adapted for Quebec) is the version of the TEF recognized by the Immigration Department of Diversity and Inclusion of Quebec for an official immigration application. Learn more about this exam.

The TEF is comprised of up to 5 components : Listening, Reading, Speaking, Writing, Vocabulary.

NOTE : Since 2019, the TEF exam is available in a computer-based format, now called e-TEF. The format of the exam questions will remain the same as before, but the exam will be administered on a computer within the premises of the Alliance Française de Karachi.

Which version of the test should I take?

The version of the TEF you should take depends on your individual circumstances. Please consult the Canadian immigration website or an immigration specialist if you are looking for TEF Canada or TEFAQ. For students you may consult your university’s requirement, and take the TEF of the required components. The Alliance Française de Karachi does not offer immigration-related consultations.

When to expect the results? 

Paper certificates are no longer issued. Candidates will receive their results directly by e-mail from the CCIP, within a week or two from the date of their exam.

• e-TEF (per components): PKR 25,000
